My husband I were pleasantly surprised to find this gem in Birmingham of all places! Their rum selection is unmatched, as were their mixology skills and creative food menu. Josh and Luke took great care of us, we tried several different cocktails and enjoyed the oxtail gnocchi and a Cuban. We will definitely return on our future visits to Birmingham! Thank you again for the great experience.

What a cool spot! The service was top tier, very accommodating, and gave outstanding suggestions. We got 4 appetizers, and honestly you could go drink rum and eat appetizers and be very happy. The appetizers we on another level. I have no complaints. The empanadas, so delicious and flavorful. The cornbread, was shockingly delicious! The tostones, wow! The cheese dip is the best I ever had. Dipping the empanada in that cheese makes my heart happy. The Cuban was good, my only gripe is it needed more mustard. It was still very delicious. All the drinks were amazing, I like sweet drinks so I got the guri guri and the zombie.

The food and service was top tier, per usual! On this night, we enjoyed the ceviche as a starter (full of flavor & a beautiful sight). For drinks we had mojitos, a raspberry lemon drop, and a blueberry lemon drop. For dinner we both had the ribeye that was covered in a red wine sauce that was to die for!!! We love Cayo Coco, and you all never disappoint!

I really enjoyed this place with my family. The decorations through out the building were nice and well thought out. It was not a loud sound carrying building that you couldn’t enjoy a conversation which is becoming a bigger and bigger thing for me. Maybe I’m getting old but yelling is no fun to me They cocktails were on spot for the kids that were almost 21 and The cocktails for the rest were on point and tasty. We did order several small plates to just give everything a sample and the fried okra was the best I’ve ever had! My filet was cooked medium rare and served on a bed of rice. My wife and daughter enjoyed the jerk chicken. My son devoured the Cubano sandwich. The chocolate desert was a great and the peach bread cornbread pudding was choice too. Last but not least was the service. They were all super friendly and very attentive. I will absolutely be back when I’m in town again.

Listen, if you’re ever in Birmingham and don’t pull up to Cayo Coco Rum Bar, you’re seriously missing out. I was in town for work and decided to skip the typical corporate gala scene for something more my speed—a solo dinner with good food and good vibes. Let me tell you, Cayo Coco is it. This place? It’s a whole experience. From the moment I walked in, the ambiance struck the perfect balance between laid-back charm and polished sophistication. The vibe was warm, authentic, and buzzing just enough to feel alive without being overwhelming. The thoughtfully curated menu was a feast for the senses—every dish more enticing than the last. Collectively, my meal here ranks as one of the best things I’ve ever eaten, showcasing a level of care and creativity that made each bite unforgettable. And then, there was Ashley, my amazing waitress. If I lived in Birmingham, I’d absolutely be friends with her. She was personable, warm, and fully engaged, turning what could have been just another solo meal into a vibrant and memorable evening. We swapped stories of travel, shared favorite bands, and geeked out over her top menu picks (she was spot on, by the way). Her service was the epitome of southern hospitality and truly elevated the experience. Cayo Coco is legendary in my book. It’s not just a restaurant; it’s a place that etches core memories. If you find yourself in Birmingham, whether alone or with friends, this is a spot you simply cannot miss. Top-tier food, incredible vibes, and a team that knows how to make every guest feel like family. Birmingham, you’ve outdone yourself with this one.

Went to Cayo Coco 9/23 for my fiancee's birthday. Food was stellar, the pork chop was a 10/10. Grouper was cooked to perfection, wish the sauce was a little richer. We received phenomenal service from our waitress and the two bartenders we interacted with. Will certainly be coming back, a real hidden gem of Birmingham.

We had such a wonderful experience dining at Cayo Coco Rum Bar & Restaurant. It was our first time in and to our surprise we were waited on by one of the partners in the business, Josh. He was very pleasant, knowledgeable, and took the time to tell a detailed back story on a particular rum we asked about. Did I mention the food? I had the crab fried rice and my boyfriend had the jerk chicken, both were phenomenal! Your taste buds will thank you for stopping in and trying a dish. We will definitely be back! Thanks again Josh!

Cayo Coco is such a cool spot in downtown Bham! Primarily reviewing the bar service/area because I’ve never gone for a full meal. The cocktails here are phenomenal every time, the staff behind the bar are always friendly and take obvious care in making good drinks. The atmosphere is so nice. I love sitting at the bar for a couple drinks and always leave in a good mood. Have had a couple of the small plates including the crawfish mofongo and enjoyed whatever I’ve ordered. Definitely a great spot for dates or if you have friends or family in town and want to do something different.
